Search Tips

No results? Search more broadly:

If a search for a specific person, title or other topic produces too few or no results, try searching more broadly: for a profession, group, a genre of dance, a place, etc.:

  • group + place = women choreographers AND "united states"
  • dance + genre = dance AND improvisation

Too many results? To narrow down, add information to your search:

  • add the country
  • add the time period (19th century, 20th century, etc.)
  • add the genre (hip hop, ballroom, etc.)

Use the *

  • Use the *  (asterisk) to truncate your search terms, to search several terms at once.
Example: danc* = dance, dancer, dancers, dancing etc.

Examples of subjects used in OneSearch and other databases:

  • Modern dance
  • African American dance
  • Choreographers
  • Choreographers - United States - History
