Sapphic Women before the 21st Century

Dressing Dykes
Dressing Dykes is a blog run by Eleanor Medhurst that started in 2020. The blog documents Lesbian history through the lens of fashion. It discusses Lesbian fashion trends throughout different eras of time, and places. Fashion has always been a major part of how people express themselves and their identities. It is important to look at how people demonstrated their identities through things like fashion and used it as a way to signal themselves as being a member of the Lesbian community, and how fashion can be used to support identities.

Lesbrary

Lesbrary is a book review website that provides reviews of Queer and Sapphic books. It started in 2010 and was created by Danika Ellis. It now has a team of reviewers and also receives reviews from the community. These books being reviewed are mostly modern stories, and the reviews themselves are all modern reflections and perspectives from which you can approach Sapphic identities. You can use sources like this to compare the modern with the past depictions of Queer women and gender non-conforming people.

Making Queer History

Making Queer History is a collection of articles and podcast episodes that was started in 2016. Their goal is to talk about Queer history. They discuss many people in the Queer community throughout time without a specific focus on any one particular identity. They are working on attempting to documenting queer history around the world rather than singularly focusing on one place. The articles and podcasts provided by this website can give information regarding Lesbian and Sapphic identities through time and across multiple countries. It is continuing to be updated with new articles and information.
