Portal is a journal about academic libraries and related issues such as publishing and technology. It is a peer-reviewed journal, published by Johns Hopkins University since 2001. Johns Hopkins University publishes more than a hundred peer-reviewed journals, as well as scholarly books. Four issues of Portal are published every year; articles are written by practicing librarians from academic libraries around the U.S., working in collaboration. Articles explore the theory and philosophy of library work, as well as case studies and best practices. The journal is searchable within the Project Muse database; articles can be read online, or downloaded as PDFs.
