Welcome!

Dionne Brand once said “To have one’s belonging lodged in a metaphor is voluptuous intrigue; to inhabit a trope; to be a kind of fiction. To live in the Black Diaspora I think is to live in a fiction - a creation of empires, and also self-creation. It is to be living inside and outside herself.” Africans have touched every corner of this world and have introduced a piece of their culture and heritage wherever they go. This selection of materials ranges from books to movies, articles and even podcasts that exhibit some aspect of the African Diaspora. This is a glimpse of the creative ways in which the Diaspora expresses their identities and heritage to the rest of the world.

If you are able, please visit the Wyndham Robertson Library for the physical version of the exhibit which includes everything with * on it. The exhibit will be up on August 31st until October 13th.

Enjoy!
