"I believe the work I did was instrumental in fulfilling the library’s mission. I gathered feedback from the survey and made it my mission to listen to what the students wanted. I also engaged with the Hollins community, even if it was a small group of people. I hope this effort helps to continue diversifying the library’s collection. This will allow students and the Hollins community to discover more books by Hispanic and Latino authors, so they can better understand the Hispanic and Latino experiences, especially regarding immigration, which has been a significant topic in the news with the current administration. Furthermore, this book collection was important because I ensured these books were available for both Spanish and English readers, reaching a wider audience. My goal was to create a welcoming environment for everyone, especially those from Hispanic and Latino backgrounds, and to provide valuable resources that reflect their experiences and stories."
