New Queer Horror covers the beginnings of queer horror in television and cinema, and contains analyses of various horror media such as Let the Right One In (2008), Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), and American Horror Story (2011). This series of analyses will help researchers look into the modern landscape of queer horror and how it has influenced horror cinema culture. New Queer Horror was published by The Contributors in 2020, as well as University of Wales Press.
Queer Cinema in America has an itemized list of prominent queer cinema released in America, a guide to related topics, a chronology of queer-related events in the cinema world, A-Z entries of queer cinematic projects, and an index which can guide a researcher through their research. This book allows for insight into queer cinema as a whole- not just queer horror. This allows for much-needed context. Queer Cinema in America was published by Santa Barbara: ABC-CLIO in 2019.
The Filmmaker’s Book of the Dead gives insight into the conventions of the horror genre itself- not necessarily queer, but it allows for a wider lens into the purpose of horror cinema, as well as the tropes, tricks, and tips for any researcher who may be interested in creating or writing a horror movie. It also has use for someone simply researching the topic- giving interviews and insider information from the author, Danny Draven, an award-winning director and producer. The Filmmaker’s Book of the Dead was published by Focal Press in 2016.
