Brill's New Pauly and The Oxford Classical Dictionary (OCD) are reference works that will give background information about both (1) votive offerings and (2) your specific Greek deity. Things to note for your assignment:

- Ancient Sites

- Types of offerings given

  • Look up types of offerings in the ThesCRA

- Search the book "Greek votive offerings" by Rouse on the Internet Archive. You can search the text by deity or use the Table of Contents.

- Search JSTOR 

  • Getting too many results? Go to the advanced search screen and limit your results to Archaeology or Classical Studies OR any of the journals listed to the right.

- Search ARTstor

  • Search for your Greek deity, then use the filters on the left to limit results to Greece, then use the search box in the top right to search for an ancient site or type of offering (BE SURE TO USE THE DROP DOWN BOX & LIMIT YOUR SEARCH TO "within the search result")
